We love creating handprint and footprint art and Christmas is the prefect excuse for doing a few extra crafts. For babies and younger toddlers sometimes handprint and footprint crafts are mainly made by mum or dad, but that doesn't stop them being a keepsake to treasure forever. These reindeer footprints were made using Daisy's footprints when she was 3 months old and every time I see them on the Christmas tree I love remembering how tiny her feet once were.

You will need:

  • Salt dough (use our easy salt dough recipe)
  • Cinnamon (to add to the salt dough for colour)
  • Mod Podge
  • Gold pipe cleaners
  • Googly eyes
  • Red pom poms

Salt Dough Reindeer Footprint Ornament

Full details available at

These salt dough reindeer footprints were really easy to make using our simple salt dough recipe. We mixed a bit of cinnamon into our salt dough mixture for colour before
we began making our reindeer footprints, but you could paint your reindeer once it has dried out instead if you prefer.

Once we had made our fooprints from salt dough we dried them out and sealed them with mod podge. We then added gold pipe cleaner antlers, googly eyes and a red pom pom nose to complete these cute reindeer ornaments.

  2. Fabulous projects. Thank you for the ideas - looking forward to trying with my grandsons. Can I make salt dough in advance? How long would it keep?

    1. I wouldn't make it too much in advance as it does dry out quite quickly. Have fun x
