How to make this cat craft for kids

STEP ONE: Gather your supplies

Before you begin, make sure to gather up your supplies and prepare your workspace. This makes things much easier -- especially with projects like this. As a quick note, you can use coloured clay if you don't have white and you'll be able to paint it if you'd like once it is dry.

STEP TWO: Cut out the clay bowl shape

To get started, roll out the white air dry clay so that it is about 1cm thick and lay down a small bowl. Trace around the edges of the bowl with a knife leaving small gaps for the ears. Trace the shape of the ears on top of the bowl. This needs to be one shape as shown below so that the ears don't break off.

Wet the tip of your fingers with water and then smooth out the edges of the clay. Turn the small bowl over and cover it with cling film. Then carefully place your piece of cut out clay inside of a small bowl so it can take its shape as the clay dries.

It will take about 1-2 days to fully dry.

STEP THREE: Add cat details

Once the clay has dried, draw on the cat eyes, nose, and whiskers. For best results, use a pencil first so you can plan out the details before using paint pens or an acrylic marker to draw back over it.

Paint the inside of the ears and nose using some paint colours of choice. Allow time for the paint to dry and you're done with your air dry clay project!
