Clay bowl supplies:


  • Modeling clay
  • Cookie cutter or knife
  • Rolling pin
  • Small bowl
  • Leaves
  • Twigs
  • Gold paint

How to make an air dry clay leaf bowl:


STEP 1: Gather your supplies


Before you get started, gather up all your supplies. Invite your children to pick out leaves and twigs from outside. They will love going out on a nature walk to collect interesting leaves whilst getting excited for this fun clay leaf bowl project!


STEP 2: Prep your air dry clay



Once you have your supplies, prep your clay by rolling it out 1 centimetre thick (or 1/2 an inch).

Then, cut it into a round shape using a small bowl, cookie cutter, or knife.

STEP 3: Decorate your leaf bowl



Now it's time to decorate! Help your child cover the leaf in gold paint and press into the clay as shown below. Have them use a small twig to make marks in the clay, too. 

Optionally, they can choose other art mediums to add more designs to their leaf bowl.

STEP 4: Finish off your clay leaf bowl


Once they're done decorating, have them place the clay into a small bowl to create a bowl shape. Add some gold paint around the edges. Leave it to dry for 24 hours and then come back to remove the bowl. Now you just need to decide what to use your new clay bowl for!
