Halloween is right around the corner and kids can't hold their excitement (well, at least my little ones can't!) so, we decided to start preparing ourselves for the Halloween season by making some fun and spookily-adorable puppets craft!

You can use these puppets for an improvised puppet play or as bookmarkers to encourage reading time. Kids will have a blast!

Halloween Puppet Craft

Halloween Puppet Craft - Supplies:

• Cereal carton or cardstock
• Acrylic paint
• Paintbrush
• Popsicle sticks
• Craft glue
• Pencil
• Scissors

Halloween Puppet Craft - Instructions:

STEP 1: Grab the *free* Halloween puppet template!

Let's start! Grab all your supplies and begin by downloading our free Halloween puppet printable (click on the link down below!) Once you have downloaded it, print it out and cut out the Halloween shapes. We've included a pumpkin, a cat, and a cute little ghost.

STEP 2: Trace and cut the Halloween puppet shapes.

Take the empty cereal box, and open the glued ends. Next, trace the halloween templates on the wrong side of the carton box and cut them out. Alternatively you can use plain cardstock to trace the shapes onto. 

STEP 3: Paint the Halloween shapes with acrylic paint.

Pick the colours that you would like to use for your Halloween puppets. We decided to use white for the ghost, orange for the pumpkin, and black for the bat and cat.

If you use white for this ghost, like we did, you'll need to apply two layers of paint to cover the cardbox original color entirely, but you can apply just one coat to the other shapes.

STEP 4: Draw the face!

Now you have painted your puppets shapes it's time to create the features! Feel free to draw the eyes and the mouth or use our template patterns.

If you decide to use the template, just cut out the eyes and mouth patterns and glue them onto the halloween puppet shapes.

STEP 5: Put your Halloween puppets together!

Now, you just need to glue the popsicle stick onto the backside of each of the halloween characters.

And your Halloween puppets are all done and ready to play with!
