With Autumn in full swing we have a huge (and ever growing) collection of conkers to craft with. If your kids are looking for easy conker crafts they will love these cute conker spiders. They are perfect for autumn themed topics and threading pipe cleaners to make the spiders legs is great for toddlers or preschoolers working on fine motor skills.

You will need:

  • Conkers
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Googly eyes
  • Glue
  • A skewer or small screw driver to make a hole in the conkers.

How to make conker spiders

The first thing you will need to do it make a hole in each conker using a skewer or small screw driver.

To make the spiders legs thread 4 pipe cleaners through the hole and then bend them into shape. We found that the first couple of pipe cleaners were easy to thread but then it got a little bit harder. Try to make sure the legs are of a similar size.

Add some googly eyes and draw on a little smile to complete your spiders.

We made a spiders web for our spiders by dribbling glue onto some black paper and then sprinkling it with glitter.

I think our spiders look really cute and the kids have loved playing with them.
