What are Warm and Cool Colors?

Warm colors are reds, oranges, and yellows. We usually find them in things and scenes that look cozy and warm. Things like a bonfire, autumn leaves, or sunsets.

Cool colors are blues, greens, and purples. We usually see these colors in scenes like waterfalls, oceans, forests, and grass.

If you want to dive deeper into cool and warm colors (and you're kids are old enough), you could also look at the color wheel.

A color wheel is an organization of color hues around a circle. This helps us to see how primary colors, secondary colors, and tertiary colors work together.

Sir Isaac Newton developed the color wheel in 1666. He created the first circular diagram of colors, in which all colors can be divided into two categories: Warm and cool colors.
