Today we're mixing two of my kid's favourite things: animal shapes and pattern drawing! 

This is such a relaxing activity to do with the kids on an autumn afternoon. Using the printable turkey colouring page making this turkey zentangle art will be a breeze. It's perfect if you don't want to get tons of fancy supplies out and enjoy a simple, fun activity to celebrate Thanksgiving. 

In this activity, we're using the basic concept of zentangle art. But don't fret if you haven't tried it before! It's not complicated at all, and it provides a way to let kids explore their creativity and work on line-study and their pencil grip. Also, many little ones find it relaxing and it can even be used as a way to tackle anxiety, so it's definitely worth a try!

Turkey Colouring Page Zentange Art - Supplies:

• Printable turkey template
• Coloured pencil or markers
• Watercolours (optional)
• Cotton balls or q-tips (optional)

Thanksgiving Colouring Page Zentangle Art - Instructions:

STEP 1: Download & print turkey colouring page.

Get ready! Please scroll down below and grab our free turkey template. Once you have it, print it out and have it nearby to start the craft. I would recommend printing onto thick paper or thin cardstock. 

STEP 2: Colour time.

Invite your little one to pick coloured markers or pencils and start filling each turkey section with zentangle patterns, including the feathers. Circles, lines, curves, dots, anything goes! To make each pattern really stand out use a different colour for each section. 

Use the pictures below as a guide for the patterns, or you can also search for different ones; there are so many pretty ones!

But always remember, simple is best. Be creative and doodle your own designs. Use a different pattern and colour for each section of the turkey colouring page! Draw free hand or use a ruler, the choice is yours!

STEP 3: Paint the background.

You can either stop here or add a little more colour. If you choose to add more colour use watercolours to paint a thin layer of colour over the top of the patterns.

STEP 4: Add some finishing touches.

If you want to add more pops of colour, take a cotton ball and use it as a brush to paint the background with blue to create a sky or a contrasting watercolor shade.
