Playdough Seashell Fossils Activity

If you can't head off to the beach this summer, there's no need to worry! With this fabulous Playdough Seashell Fossils activity, your kids can explore and enjoy an ocean-themed playtime and have just as much fun at home!

It's an awesome sensory activity, especially if your kids are starting to fine-tune their motor skills. Young children will love pressing the seashells onto playdough and it's an amazing way to allow your little one to start improving their skills in a fun way!

You'll only need to grab playdough and a few seashells for this activity and your little ones will be on their way to have a field day making these cute seashell fossils! You could also use your seashells and playdough to make playdough snails!

Playdough Seashell Fossils

Seashell Fossils Supplies:

• Playdough
• Seashells
• Rolling Pin

Seashell Fossils Playdough Activity:

STEP 1: Grab your playdough and seashells.

Start by getting all your supplies in order! I loved doing this activity with my kids outside, but it's totally mess-free so feel free to make these seashells fossils on any table in your home!

Invite your little one to take out the playdough and roll it with a rolling pins until the playdough is flat on the surface. Alternatively you could squash the playdough with your hand.

STEP 2: Make shell imprints.

Now, encourage your child to place and press the seashells to the playdough and even roll the rolling pin over it to press the seashells even more deep onto the playdough.

STEP 3: Uncover the fossils!

Carefully remove the seashells from the playdough or teach your child how to do it. You'll be left with a fossil shape with the same texture as the seashell! I loved letting my kids compare these playdough fossils to the real thing!
