Kids who are in awe over Halloween will have a BLAST with this haunted house craft this year! This is a GREAT oil pastel art project to get them exploring new mediums. It's a fun process art activity and great for learning about colour mixing and different art media types.

- Construction paper (or cardstock)
- Oil pastels
- Scissors
- Glue
How to make your haunted house craft
STEP 1: Gather up all your supplies
First things first - gather up all the supplies you need for your oil pastel art! This makes the process so much easier.
If you haven't yet downloaded the haunted house template, scroll down below to get it. Then, print it off for your Halloween craft!
STEP 2: Prepare your haunted house template
To get started, prepare your template by cutting out all the pieces on the coloured construction paper required and set aside.
STEP 3: Colour the sky with pastels
Grab a white piece of construction paper or cardstock and draw a circle for the moon with yellow oil pastels. Trace the edges of that circle with orange pastel and then use your fingertips to smudge the colours together.
Use different shades of orange, red, and yellow to finish filling in the paper. Make sure to colour them from dark to light in order to create a nice fade. Smudge them together until you're happy with the result!
STEP 4: Draw a border
Next, draw a border around the edges of the paper with black oil pastel. Blend the black pastel towards the middle of the paper.
STEP 5: Glue the template pieces
Once you've done that - it's time to glue your template pieces! Start with the fence and glue it towards the bottom of the paper.
Next, glue the house on top of the fence (fence not pictured).
Then, glue the doors and windows onto the house.
Next, add any ghosts you'd like to add.
Lastly, glue on the bats over the moon. For some extra fun, add some glitter.
You're finished! Try making additional oil pastel art with different colour combinations. (How cool would some purple and greens look?!)
