  • White Paper Gift Bags
  • Blue Paint

  • Glue Stick

How to make your duck craft:

STEP 1: Gather your supplies

Before you get started with your duck craft, make sure to gather up all your supplies! It makes it so much easier when you aren't chasing down all your supplies - especially with toddlers and preschoolers involved in the process.

Be sure to download and print off your duck craft template. You can find it by scrolling down below.

STEP 2: Prepare your duck craft template and body parts

Assuming you have your duck craft template downloaded and printed off, it's time to cut it out! Once you've done that, you'll start to cut out the duck body parts on card stock.

Trace the body of the duck, the head of the duck, and the wings from the template onto yellow cardstock and cut them out. Then trace the beak and feet onto orange cardstock and those out. Lastly, cut a small strip of both yellow and orange cardstock.

STEP 3: Assemble duck's head

First things first - we need to assemble the duck's head! Glue the beak and googly eyes onto the duck's head as shown below.

STEP 4: Attach the duck's head to the body

Now that you assembled the duck's head, you're going to attach it to the body. Take the yellow strip of cardstock and fold into the shape of an M. Then, glue one end of the strip onto the duck's body and the other end onto the head.

STEP 5: Attach the duck's wings and feet to the body

Next, glue the wings onto the duck, slightly flapping them up. Take both orange strips of cardstock and fold them into the shape of an M. Then, glue one end of the strips onto the duck's body and the other end onto the feet.

ALTERNATIVE IDEA : If you want to turn your ducks into puppets rather than gifts bags add a craft stick to the back of the ducks. You could make 5 to use as you sing the nursery rhyme '5 Little Ducks'.

STEP 6: Assemble puddle

Next, we're going to start on the puddle your duck will sit on. Trace the puddle template onto blue cardstock and cut it out. Then, trace it onto light blue cardstock and out the strips from it as shown below.

Once you've done that, glue the light blue strips onto the blue puddle pieces.

STEP 6: Assemble gift bags

For the last step, it's time to assemble the gift bags! Glue the duck on top of the puddle and then paint the gift bags with a thin coat of paint using a foam paint brush. Be sure to allow the paint to dry completely before continuing.

Now, glue the duck and puddle onto the gift bag and then cut out droplets of water from blue cardstock. Glue the droplets onto the gift bags as shown below.
