How to make magic reindeer food

Print out all the magic reindeer food signs and poem using the link at the bottom of the page. If you want to do this activity with a larger group of children, or you want the signs to last year after year, I would recommend laminating the printables.

To set up the magic reindeer food bar, fill 3 bowls with oats and cake sprinkles.

It is recommended that you don't use glitter as it is bad for wildlife that might eat it. Instead of sprinkles, you could include a variety of different oats or seeds that are safe for wildlife. Here is a PDF with good ideas of wildlife friendly reindeer food ingredients from the RCPCA.

Put one sign next to each of the bowls. We found some star shaped bowls, which I think make our reindeer food bar look extra magical!

Take a cellophane bag and fill it with reindeer food. Add a small amount of each of the magic reindeer food ingredients into your bag.

Finally, the best part, close your eyes and make a wish.

Tie the cellophane bag up and turn it into a reindeer by twisting a pipe cleaner around the top of the bag to form antlers, and then add eyes and a nose. Complete your magic reindeer food by adding our printable magic reindeer food poem label.
