We love making salt dough ornaments, yarn ornaments and wood slice ornaments, but what I love most about the ugly sweater ornaments we are sharing today is that they can be made with just a few supplies and they are easy enough for children of all ages to join in.

- Paper/ card
- Markers, crayons or paint in your chosen colours
- Glitter
- Glue
- Ribbon
How to make a DIY ugly sweater ornament
STEP 1: Prepare ugly sweater template
Head down to the end of the page and download a copy of our printable ugly sweater template. Use your printer settings to adjust the size of the sweater templates to a size you are happy with and then print them out.
I would recommend either printing the sweater template directly onto card or printing it onto paper and then mounting it onto card.
STEP 2: Choose an ugly sweater design
There are 8 different sweater designs for you to choose from including a bank sweater outline so you can add your own design. The designs include:
- Wrapped gifts
- Gingerbread man
- Rudolf
- Christmas lights
- Santa's suit
- Christmas trees
- Snowman
- Blank for your own design
STEP 3: Decorate Christmas sweaters
Now it's time to colour you sweater designs. You can use markers, crayons or paints. Once you have finished adding colour it's time for the glitter (if you want to add a bit of sparkle to your ornaments). To add glitter just add glue to the sections you want covered and sprinkle your chosen colour glitter. Repeat with other colours.
STEP 4: Add ribbon
To turn the sweater outline into an ornament you will need to add ribbon. Glue the ribbon to the back of the ugly sweater.
Your Christmas sweater ornament in now complete and ready to be hung on the Christmas tree.
