Back to School Essentials

I really don't want to say this out loud, but that time in the school summer holidays when we have to start thinking about back to school is fast approaching! In order to avoid the last-minute school uniform rush, or more importantly the sizes needed selling out, it's time to start buying new school shoes and uniforms ready for the new school year.

I don't know about you, but we always try to make school shoes, school bags, and school uniforms last right until the end of the school year to avoid buying new ones before the long summer break. So a new school year often means a new uniform.

Having a new school uniform makes children feel nice as they start the new year, and choosing new school shoes and bags is always a highlight. The school shoe shops like Clarks always get so busy as we head towards back-to-school time, so this year I have decided to avoid the crowds by being organised and getting our school shoes, school bags, and school uniforms early as well as by getting them online.

Back to School Essentials

Below I have included a list of back-to-school essentials ready for the start of the new year.  I have also included images of the school uniform that my children have chosen along with our thoughts about their choices. Everything listed is from www.very.co.uk. It is great to be able to get all your back-to-school essentials from one place, without having to even leave the sofa!

School Shoes

School shoes are in my eyes the most important school essential to buy early, as if you leave it too late in the summer to buy them you often can't get the shoe style or sizes needed.

We had great fun browsing through the selection of girls school shoes and boys school shoes at very.co.uk. I love how they have a huge selection of school shoes available from a variety of brands so children have a full range of shoes to choose from.

My daughter chose a pair of Lelli Kelly school shoes that look so shiny and pretty (her main reason for choosing them I think!) Her shoes also came with spare straps so she can colour the hearts which we thought was pretty cool. My youngest son chose Clarks rex dino school shoes as he loved the dinosaur footprint along the bottom, they look really sturdy which is great as he is always running and climbing. My eldest son went for leather lace-up shoes which work well for secondary school and they look like they should wear well.

School Bags

Kids can let their personalities shine through their choice of school bag! Again very.co.uk have a great selection of school bags from various different brands and they all seem great quality.

There are so many options to choose from! (I think my kids chose well with their Adidas and Hype school bags)

School Uniform

With various options available (especially for girls) it's fun for children to browse through the different school uniform options.

My daughter decided to go for a grey school dresses with white polo shirts underneath for September (but the skirts and blouses look good too). She usually wears school logo cardigans but decided to get the plain blue school cardigan this year too and was impressed with the feel of it. I think that she liked that it was lighter than her school logo cardigan.

My son went for black trousers, a white polo shirt, and a matching blue jumper.

The younger children tried their school uniforms on to check the fit and pose for a few photographs and I think they both look really smart. I'm also very happy to have the back-to-school shopping ticked off my to-do list!

I hope this list of back-to-school essentials and our thought on the items we have helps you with your own back-to-school shopping!
