Movie charcuterie board

A movie snack board is a great way to use up any extra candy and snacks lying around the house. If you have things about to expire, or just have an abundance of chocolate you'd like to use - this is a great way to utilize them. Plus, this movie charcuterie board only takes 10 minutes to put together.

Your movie night snack board can also be the centerpiece of an interesting history lesson on movie theaters! Did you know that the first movie theaters didn't even allow food inside? They wanted to create an upscale experience and avoid a mess on their floors. But when patrons were sneaking them in anyway, they took it as an opportunity to start selling their own. The very first snacks sold were popcorn, sno-caps, Twizzlers, and dots.

Once you have all your ingredients and supplies laid out in front of you, start pouring the small candies into serving bowls. Things like M&Ms, Snow-Caps, Goldfish crackers, etc will do best being placed in small bowls around the outside of your movie charcuterie board.

Movie night snack board variations

  • Don't have a wooden board at home? No worries! All you need is a large tray or platter of some sort. A movie charcuterie board will even work on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Try adding some fun accessories for more fun! You could try these kitchen scoops, these silicone liners, or these fun serving tongs depending on the type of snacks you use.
  • Can't find honey-roasted nuts? Feel free to swap it out for salted peanuts, cashews, or any other preferred choice. You can even forego nuts altogether and use your favourite chips instead.
  • Add other specialty treats of choice such as chocolate truffles, macarons, or rice crispy treats.
  • Try creating a theme based on the movie you're watching! For example, you could include swedish fish and dolphin gummies while watching The Little Mermaid.
  • Experiment with your popcorn! Try using different flavors, seasonings, and even sprinkles to make it even more fun for your family.
