Feeling in need of a bit of family time the offer of a stay at Glebe House Cottages couldn't have come at a better time. Perfectly located near Bude on the Devon/ Cornwall border Glebe House Cottages is a beautiful place to stay.

Where are Glebe House Cottages?

Glebe House Cottages are set in the Cornish countryside close to the beaches of Bude and Widemouth Bay.

Bude is a small seaside resort in North East Cornwall, England that is renowned as an excellent location for Cornish surfing holidays. There are plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants to explore in this unspoilt coastal town as well as many beautiful beaches.

Widemouth bay is the closest beach to Glebe House Cottages and it is the perfect place for surfing or for younger children to build sandcastles, go rock pooling or jump waves!

Accommodation at Glebe House Cottages

Jay and Sarah who own Glebe House Cottages are such welcoming hosts who go out of their way to make you feel at home.

There are 6 luxury cottages available and they all open out onto a small courtyard. It would be lovely to sit out in the courtyard with a drink or to have a BBQ in the summer months. (Unfortunately it was too cold to do that during our stay)

The cottages are spacious with solid oak furniture and everything that you could need in a self catering cottage. They have been recently modernised, but still have lots of their original features.

Inside 'Little Barn' at Glebe House Cottages

We stayed in 'Little Barn' which is set up for up to 6 people and has 3 bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms are on the ground floor and there is a third bedroom above the living area.  The living area, which has two sofas, a kitchen and a table for 6 can be found on the second floor.

The cottages are beautiful. Wine was waiting for us on arrival and the kids couldn't wait to head into the bedroom above the living area which became their 'secret hideout'.

As Ollie is only 21 months having wooden stair gates fitted on both staircases was much appreciated. Ollie is into everything right now so it was great that the gates discouraged him a little, (however by the end of our stay the little monkey had worked out how to open the lock to get to the kids 'secret hideout'!)

The double bedrooms downstairs are nicely done and one has an en suite. We took one of the bedrooms and the three children shared the other (with Ollie in a travel cot). The third bedroom upstairs was mainly used as a chill room during the day, but Harry did decide to sleep there on his own for our last night.

Another extra that we LOVED was being able to order warm baguettes, croissants and pain au chocolat to be delivered to our cottage. The kids loved placing our orders and then collecting our basket full of freshly baked goodies ready for breakfast.

Glebe House Cottages Facilities

The cottages are surrounded by 5 acres of grounds, and it's the grounds that really make this place!

There are LOADS of facilities on site for kids which makes this a brilliant place for all the family. As our visit was at the end of October we had to wrap up warm, but it didn't stop us enjoying all the facilities. The kids even wanted to go for a dip in the heated pool!

There is a tennis court, trampoline, gardens to explore, an outdoor heated pool, a trim trail and a games room. There is a also a shed full of garden games and buckets and spades etc that the children can borrow to play with or take to the beach.

Tennis Court

The tennis court was a favourite with the kids. There is a box full of tennis rackets and tennis balls for guests to use.

Ollie loved going into the box and helping himself to the tennis rackets. He ran around the tennis court hitting the tennis balls along the ground with his tennis racket. He loved feeling like he was playing tennis with everyone else!

The rest of us enjoyed a few friendly games of tennis and Harry said this was his favourite part of the holiday.

Heated swimming pool

Harry and Daisy were the only two brave enough to go for a swim. The pool is heated to 30 degrees, but the air temperature was really cold during our stay. It didn't stop the kids wanting a dip though!

We couldn't get Daisy (our little mermaid) out of the pool! She would have been in there all day given the chance.

Trampoline

All kids seem to love trampolines! We have one in our garden, but somehow having one somewhere else makes it more appealing and the kids had a great time bouncing about.

Trim Trail

The trim trail was popular with all the kids. Ollie needed a little help getting around, but Daisy loved trying to do it on her own. Harry had fun racing his dad!

Exploring the gardens

There are some beautiful gardens to explore and there is nothing that Ollie loves more than running and exploring new places.

In the formal gardens there is a pond full of fish and lots of hidden areas of the garden to explore.

Games room

If the weather isn't great then head to the games room. Harry loved having a game of pool and Daisy found some board games she liked the look of. There were some cars that we took back to our cottage for Ollie to play with too.

Would we recommend a holiday at Glebe House Cottages?

The answer from everyone in the family was a resounding YES! The location of Glebe House Cottages is perfect. The surrounding area is beautiful and being close to so many beaches means there are lots of different places to visit.

The owners of Glebe House Cottages have thought about everything that a family would need (or could possibly want) and they have included it. The 5 acres of grounds and all the facilities for children really made our holiday.
