- Pipe cleaners
- Perler beads
- Bubbles
- Small dish
Directions to make your homemade bubble wand:
STEP 1: Gather your supplies
Before you get started with your bubble wand pipe cleaner craft, make sure to gather up your supplies first! I hate running around after supplies during a craft, so we always make sure to have everything laid out before we get started!
STEP 2: Shape the pipe cleaner into a bubble wand
Once you have your supplies, it's time to get started with making your bubble wand! Have your toddler or preschooler choose two pipe cleaners of the same color to use as the base of their wand. Then, twist them together at each end, leaving the top in a circle as shown below.
STEP 3: Add beads onto the pipe cleaner base
Next, have your preschooler or toddler choose a few colours of perler beads to string onto the base of your bubble wand. By having them help, it allows them to practice their fine motor skills.
You can either create a repeating pattern as shown below or leave your toddler or preschooler to decide their own colours and patterns. If you do decide to go for a repeating pattern as show below this would be a good time to engage your child and talk about repeating patterns. It's great when children learn new skills without even realising it!
Once you've reached the bottom of your bubble wand, fold the bottom up to hold all your beads into place.
STEP 4: Repeat for additional bubble wands
Now, repeat these steps for additional bubble wands! You might want to make extras for siblings or friends that come over. It's good to have lots of extras on hand for more bubble play!
