How to make a leaf hedgehog

First, scroll down to grab your free hedgehog printable template, then head outside to collect a pile of leaves. Collecting the leaves is half the fun! Make sure the leaves are dry, as it will make them easier to stick. Then the fun part: glue the leaves to the hedgehog to create his spikes.

Daisy (aged 2) and Harry (aged 5) both loved this quick and easy hedgehog craft. We have an ever-growing collection of nature in our house, so we thought we would put a few of the dried-out leaves to good use.

I printed off the hedgehog colouring pages and gave them to the children along with brown crayons, their collection of leaves and some glue. Then I invited them to get creative.

Daisy didn't end up with many spikes on her hedgehog as she kept gluing them on and then pulling them back off, but she had the best time doing it! Enjoying the process of creating crafts is always far more important than the finished product!

Harry worked hard on his hedgehog, and he was really proud of it. He coloured his hedgehog brown and added leaves around the edge as spikes.
